Prime Minister Masrour Barzani congratulates Kurdistan24 on its 11th anniversary, praising its reporting during the war against ISIS and its media mission.
ERBIL (Kurdistan24) – Kurdistan Region Prime Minister Masrour Barzani congratulated Kurdistan24 on the 11th anniversary of its launch on Saturday, Oct. 31, 2026, recognizing the broadcaster's reporting during the war against ISIS and highlighting its responsibilities as a Kurdish media institution.
In a message addressed to the Director General, Board of Directors and staff of the Kurdistan24 Corporation for Research and Media, Prime Minister Barzani extended his congratulations to the organization and wished it further progress.
Opening his message, Prime Minister Barzani wrote: "On the occasion of the 11th anniversary of the launch of Kurdistan24, I extend my warmest congratulations to you and wish you continued progress."
"As a national Kurdish media institution, Kurdistan24 conveyed the stories of the Peshmerga's victories and heroism to the world and served as a key source for international media from the front lines of the war against terrorists," the prime minister said.
Prime Minister Barzani recalled that Kurdistan24 began broadcasting while Peshmerga forces were engaged in fighting against ISIS under the leadership of President Barzani.
He described the campaign as a difficult period during which the Peshmerga confronted and ultimately defeated attacks by the terrorist organization.
His anniversary message drew particular attention to Kurdistan24's reporting from the front lines during that period.
In Prime Minister Barzani's account, the broadcaster carried news of the Peshmerga's operations to audiences abroad while also providing information used by international news organizations covering the conflict.
Alongside that wartime role, the Prime Minister addressed the institution's broader responsibilities in the Kurdistan Region, linking its media work to public awareness, the rights of the Kurdish people and the Region's constitutional position.
"I wish Kurdistan24 continued success and further progress as it professionally and nationally fulfills its media mission of raising public awareness, defending the rights of the people of Kurdistan and safeguarding the constitutional status of the Kurdistan Region," he stated.
The Prime Minister concluded his congratulatory message by stating: "Congratulations on the 11th anniversary of Kurdistan24's launch. May you continue to make constant progress."
