Trump Offers White House Press Secretary Job To UFC’s Dana White
The president says he has asked the UFC chief to bring six current and former fighters as assistants to “defend us against the Lunatic Left”; the White House has not confirmed the offer
ERBIL (Kurdistan 24) - President Donald Trump said on Saturday that he has offered the job of White House press secretary to Dana White, the longtime head of the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) and a close ally, in a post on Truth Social. “Dana, please take the job!” Trump wrote.
The White House did not immediately respond to requests to confirm the offer, and it is unclear whether White has accepted, The Hill reported.
Trump called White “a violent Fighter and Warrior” and said he has asked him to bring assistants, “even though some are not from our Country”: Islam Makhachev, Khabib Nurmagomedov, Justin Gaethje, Daniel Cormier, Amanda Nunes and Kayla Harris. He said, “We need these people to defend us against the Lunatic Left.” The post included an image of White behind the briefing room podium, along with photos of the six fighters, according to Raw Story.
The outlet said Trump appeared to mean two-time Olympic judo champion Kayla Harrison. White is not a fighter himself. Makhachev and Nurmagomedov are from Dagestan, Russia, and Nunes is Brazilian.
The offer comes after Trump named Katie Zacharia, a senior communications adviser at Truth Social, as press secretary on October 9, with the Trump administration offering her the job, according to Breitbart and the Epoch Times. She succeeded Karoline Leavitt, who left at the end of August to spend more time with her family. Trump did not say what the new offer means for Zacharia. White has been close to Trump for years, and the UFC held its “Freedom 250” event on the White House South Lawn on June 15, according to Reuters photos carried by Raw Story.
The post follows Republican losses in the midterm elections on Tuesday, and Trump told reporters this week that he expects “very little” departures from his cabinet, Breaking the News reported. The press secretary position is the administration’s main voice at the podium, and has been tied to disputes with the press corps, including over the Associated Press and the White House press pool.
